For those who didn’t want to wade through George Lakoff’s Moral Politics (kinda long and somewhat repetitive), he’s repackaged a bunch of his incredibly important insights about political language and “framing” into a new, short, action-oriented book called Amazon.com: Don’t Think of an Elephant: Know Your Values and Frame the Debate–The Essential Guide for Progressives.
Do yourself a favor: go buy it.
There’s tons more on Lakoff online. Particularly interesting of late is blog that follows the “Language of Politics” class he’s currently teaching at Berkeley.
I just finished reading this, and my first instinct was to buy 10 copies for every activist I know. It’s only $10, you can read it in a day or two, you will be a better agent of change after you read it. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
I collected some links to different articles of his on my blog.
