Way cool! It's amazing to see the torrent of innovation that Plone 3 is making possible!

Hi Jon,
It might be 1.5 years later, but I'm happy to report that thanks to content rules in Plone 3, we now have a plugin for Plone that will post events to upcoming.org as well as eventful.com and twitter.com. The package is in the collective as collective.contentrules.webservices.
See the code for the upcoming.org action here: http://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/collective.contentrules.webservices/trunk/collective/contentrules/webservices/actions/_upcoming.py
I'll make a screencast about this soon, but wanted to let you know in case you want to get a sneak peak.
Nate

Jon - yeah, I think a simple Python script (using urllib or system level curl) to post the event info could be triggered in the workflow. PortalTransitions might even have an example of this. http://svn.plone.org/collective/PortalTransitions/trunk/README.txt

Nate-

Yeah, the reverse (Plone>Upcoming) is what I was really thinking about. It's just a matter of triggering a curl script upon event publication, me thinks.

Hi Jon,

I am also very interested in integrating Plone's event content type into Upcoming.org. It is already possible to import Upcoming.org events into a Plone site using RSS or iCal. The Plone products Calendaring and mxm iCal Tool can import an .ics file and auto-generate corresponding Plone event objects.

Now what would be cool is to go the other way, and take events entered on a Plone site and submit them to Upcoming.org. I guess this would have to be done using their REST API, but I don't think it would be very difficult.
