Just noticed my pointer to your point #1 (previous comment) is related to your point #3 . Now, about point #2 (I have a big mouth this morning), I drilled down to the “Top 10 Mistakes” page and found this, which pretty much summarizes how I feel about Plone’s new “as soon as I hit the mouse I’m in edit mode behaviour” :
Violating Design Conventions
Consistency is one of the most powerful usability principles: when things always behave the same, users don’t have to worry about what will happen. Instead, they know what will happen based on earlier experience. Every time you release an apple over Sir Isaac Newton, it will drop on his head. That’s good.
The more users’ expectations prove right, the more they will feel in control of the system and the more they will like it. And the more the system breaks users’ expectations, the more they will feel insecure … Jakob’s Law of the Web User Experience states that “users spend most of their time on other websites.”
Make no mistake : Plone’s new AJAX and responsiveness are great. it’s just that Plone turns into an editing application at the slightest click and that is not what I want. Although I’m a content owner, I use Plone as a browsing application more often than an editing application so I get nervous whenever I hover over editable content. And since I’m the site owner, well every page of my site is editable
Hi Jon,

My 2 Canadian cents
